Easton Hockey is preparing to launch the new Easton Mako hockey stick in April, 2012. The Easton Mako stick will fall in the Synergy line of sticks, and is expected to carry a few new features. Among the new elements rumored are a new shaft, a new handle, and a new blade. According to the photo below, the new Easton Mako stick will have Easton’s proprietary woven Kevlar/Graphite shaft, a non-skid blade coating, a micro-bladder blade process, multi-rib blade construction, and a matte non-grip coating. The Easton Mako is expected to retail for $229.99.

Visually, the Easton Mako design is starting to grow on me. The black shaft with grey Easton graphics looks nice but the fade to white in the lower half of the shaft, along with the white blade, are a bit unique. The lower half of the design is a bit reminiscent of the Easton S19 Pure which was released last year. It’s widely known that a lot of pro’s will spray paint the lower portion of their stick black, but there are some that paint it white too. The black paint and tape will help to hide the puck on a shooter’s blade, while the white shaft and blade will make the stick itself, especially in the flex zone, blend in with the ice. The different options will have varying effects on different goalies, but it definitely looks like Easton is trying to give any advantage it can to the player’s with their sticks.

  1. Will this stick be similar to the se16 or eq50 because it doesnt look like it has the eliptical shaft like the s19 or RS. I am currently using an RS, which will the MAKO be most like? (flex point/shaft/feel). Thanks

  2. talking with my friends, it appears the mako is like the “evolution” of the easton synergy, taking it to the next level. basically it looks like the stick is like a white synergy so it blends with the ice. if the rink is really bright/white like the staples center, it can be a real threat. i personally spray paint my sticks white on the bottom and the mako will really fake out some goalies.

  3. S19 is the best Easton stick in the world I have the rs the shaft is way to skinny and it’s not a square shape plus they break really easily this stick will be the exact same as the rs and the white on the bottom does nothing it’s just for the look!

  4. yeah rs blade sucks so much i went through 4 rs in a month and all broke on my blade im on # 6 now hope its not the same blade!

  5. Easton sticks are way behind. Bauer has by far the best sticks money can buy. No doubt about it. If you want to buy an Easton, save your money and go to your local hardware store and buy a 2 by 4 cause that’s what they feel like on the ice. No feel.

  6. why is it’s price expected so low ?? (229.99$) is it suppose to be a mid line stick or it’s just easton trying to build sticks at the lowest possible price ?
