Bauer Hockey is finally bringing the popular technology used in one of its pro spec flex profiles to the retail market with the release of the Bauer Nexus 1000 stick. The Nexus 1000 stick is described by Bauer as being “ideal for the player looking for a balanced feel with a quick, effortless release with natural power.”

The first thing you’ll notice on the ice with the Nexus 1000 stick is the Nexus Tru-Mid Flex profile. This flex profile is described as having a powerful natural release, with a softer handle and hosel and a stiff section mid-shaft. Bauer’s .520 power taper will give the Nexus 1000 stick a boost in torsional stiffness, allowing increased load on the shot and minimal twisting of the blade. Essentially what you’re getting is a stick that will flex more like what you may be used to with a wooden stick, all the while being accurate and precise on shots and passes.

The power core 3 blade which you’ll find in the Bauer Nexus 1000 is similar to what you will find in the Total One or APX stick. The foams inside the blade will maximize puck feel, absorb energy on hard passes, and help improve balance and stability.

To increase durability, Bauer is continuing with their eLASTechnology, also found on the APX stick. Bauer describes this feature as a “proprietary resin system with carbon nanotube reinforcements increasing durability by reducing the spread of micro-fractures caused by slashes and puck impacts, extending a stick’s ‘pop-life’ to keep it feeling newer, longer.” While they aren’t the first manufacturer to use carbon nanotube technology (Stealth CNT), they’re doing it in an efficient and effective way which will benefit players by increasing longevity of their Nexus 1000 stick.

The Bauer Nexus 1000 stick will be available in two finishes – griptac and matte. Both options will feature the same black and dark grey color scheme, which looks awesome. You can also expect to see retailers carry stock of all of your favorite Bauer flexes and blade patterns on the Nexus 1000, however, the new P08 (Ovechkin) pattern will be a custom make-to-order option.

  1. idk its looks alright i picked up ad APX a few days ago love it anyone that doesnt have it GOO BUY ONE THEY ARE GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. If the Ovie curve is make to order only (as mentioned above), then it appears that the Nexus 100 stick will be customizable on My Bauer?

  3. Did he specify a date in June? This stick sounds like its gonna be sick. Looks pretty slick too! I currently use a totalone and love it, but definitely gonna give this nexus 1000 go when it is available!

  4. Saw it in person over the weekend, as well as the 2 new pair of skates. Bauer sticks are always the best all around. The only down side i think is the color. It is all black and isnt the coolest looking, BUT it is still pretty good looking.
Since Bauer stick usually come out in September or October (not sure when the Nexus is coming out) I believe Bauer has just sent out a prototype of it and the will come out with a colorful stick probably in the summer. Or maybe they wont have an exact color for it and you can customize it online.
Dont take my word for anything I just said, except that I did see it at the NAHL Top Prospect tourney.

  5. I think the nexus line is going for more of a traditional look based on the info that is floating around the internet. so it doesnt look like there will be any crazy color schemes for the nexus line. Also it looks like the all black color theme of the stick is permanent and not a Prototype as Ryan Kesler and Mike Richards are currently using this nexus stick (check out the game pix of the Canucks and kings on the NHL web page).

    • Both look like great sticks, but I would recommend waiting to read some of the reviews about the Mako before making a decision. If the blades continue to be bad, the Nexus might be a better investment.

  6. It looks sick– but honestly, they roll out the same shit every couple of years and give it a different look and name. Not saying this is the same as, say, a Vapor XX, Vapor XXX or Vapor XXXX—> but its pretty much the same as a Bauer x60, or APX or Supreme total one.. all have the textreme and same blade finishes. But oh well, it’s the way to make money.

  7. and brands copy off each other –> anyone notice how SherWood rolled out the Nexon series? and this is the Nexus, lol

  8. This new Bauer stick looks sick!!!! I have gone through just about every major brand of stick out there and there is just no doubt that Bauer has the market cornered. If you’ve never used a Bauer stick before and are on the fence about purchasing one, fear not. You will not be disappointed. Can’t wait to try a new nexus Bauer!!! If you like a heel curve try the P91 Staal. It’s the sickest heel curve I have ever used. Get ready to start roofing it!!!!!!!!

    • if it only has one blade type then no if has no improvment on its lightness then yes your wright

  9. I just went through 2 APX sticks and I had a problem with both of them shredding down on the heel. I had a TotalOne and loved it. I was looking to go back to that stick but I couldn’t find them in stock anywhere. Now I’m waiting for this stick to come out! Heard sometime in April is when it’s getting released! Looking forward to it!

  10. Currently i have a RS , s19 and apx

i think rs suck so i want to have a new stick but i dont know what to choose between mako and nexus 1000
