Although the Tampa Bay Lightning did not make the playoffs, elite Steven Stamkos netted 60 goals this season. The 60th came in the final game of the season against the Winnipeg Jets, in Winnipeg. Fans booed him throughout the game, but after netting his 60th, gave an ovation. The feat puts him with the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Brett Hull and among 19 total players. Alex Ovechkin was the last player to net over 60, 65 to be exact, in 2007-2008. A bitter sweet ending to a season for Lightning fans.
Ovi was probably 2006, not 1996…right?
Not sure what I was thinking. It was 2007-2008 season. Thanks for the catch.
