Steven Stamkos is on a goal scoring tear once again this year, which comes as a surprise to no one. Stamkos has proven he can score in bunches, even without Martin St. Louis by his side. On Monday night, Stamkos was facing that former teammate when he scored a gem of a goal against Henrik Lundqvist.
The play started on an awful pass through the middle from Rick Nash. The pass went straight to Lightning forward Valtteri Filppula, who flipped the puck up to Stamkos as he entered the offensive zone. Stamkos had a couple of strides on the Rangers defense, and skated in alone on Henrik Lundqvist.
After a nice backhand to forehand move, along with a head fake, Stamkos had hung Lundqvist out to dry and was able to slide the puck into an open net.
