In addition to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the AHL’s Calder Cup Playoffs are also in full swing. Last night, the Grand Rapids Griffins closed out their series with the Milwaukee Admirals, and did so with goals on two shots that actually went right through the net. Incredible that this could happen once in a game, let alone twice!
The first shot came on a blast from Brian Lashoff, a defenseman with the Griffins. His shot blazed right through the net, and play continued. The shot would later be reviewed and ruled a goal.
Shortly after, highly touted prospect Anthony Mantha would snipe a shot in the same spot that also went through the net. His teammates were quick to recognize that the shot went in, but the play still required a review.
The Grand Rapids Griffins would use their unique goals to help lift them to a 4-1 win and a series sweep over the Admirals.
