Penguins rookie Jake Guentzel’s family celebrates his first NHL goal

Pittsburgh Penguins rookie forward Jake Guentzel scored his first NHL goal on the first shot of his first shift just 1 minute 2 seconds into his first NHL game.

You can imagine his family in attendance was pretty excited.

The goal came off of a bad angle shot that sneaked under New York Rangers goaltender Antti Raanta’s left pad. As Guentzel’s teammates joined him on ice in celebration, the camera switched to his family and their reaction to the goal, which you can see in the video below.

Guentzel added another goal midway through the first period to put the Penguins up 2-0, but it was all Rangers after that as the team tallied three in the second and another two in the third to down the Penguins 5-2. The win also gave the Rangers a four-point lead in the Metropolitan Division.
