DJ Steve Porter to Appear on Hockey Night in Canada Saturday

Every now and then we have to throw a few words to those that make us move. No, I’m not talking makers of hockey skates, although we are appreciative, but the guys and gals who make the music that make us jump around. DJ Steve Porter will be appearing on Hockey night in Canada tonight.

A little PR about Porter:

Steve Porter founded his production company PorterHouse Media in 2009. In just the past two years, PorterHouse has been hired to create the 2010 NBA Playoff/Finalsmarketing campaign, E! Network promos for their award season red carpet coverage, and a weekly project withESPN’s “NFL Countdown” for which Porter personally creates and premieres mash-up videos around each week’s games for both the 2011 and 2012 NFL seasons.

Porter has also recently been hired to create viral videos for major companies such as ABC, NBC, VH1, New York Knicks, Wheaties, Disney, Hyundai, FedEx, and the Sierra Club. As a result, he has been hailed as the “Digital Mix Master” by Sports Illustrated Magazine, and a commercial he created for Wheaties FUEL was ranked on Advertising Age’s “Viral Video Top 10 Chart” during the summer of 2011.

By name, most people won’t know him, but most of us have seen his work. He mixes every day videos with music to make a pretty nifty end product. For example, Porter remixed the “Slap Chop” infomercial into the Rap Chop, which became a viral sensation and garnered over 13 million views. Such success warranted the recognition as the worlds of advertising, entertainment, sports, and popular culture have hired Steve Porter to create “video mash-ups” to reach their consumers.

Porter will be on HNIC tonight, you might remember his “We Worked Hard for This” last year. Make sure to check him out tonight. If you are looking for more of his work, you can check out his Youtube channel at youtube.com/djsteveporter.
