While NHL players and fans continue to await an end to the lockout, the KHL has continued to thrive. Many NHL players have traveled to Russia to play in the KHL, and it is being reported that if the lockout doesn’t end soon, Sidney Crosby may end up playing overseas as well.
But at least one positive thing comes out of NHL stars skating in the KHL: highlight reel goals. In the latest gem, Artem Anisimov of the Columbus Blue Jackets, and currently skating for Yaroslavl Lokimotiv of the KHL, simply undresses a Neftekhimik defender, and allows his patience to do the rest. A sprawling Neftekhimik goaltender did as much as he could to stop Anisimov’s shot, but the puck slid under him and into the net.
Anisimov currently leads Yaroslavl Lokimotiv in points. His 8 goals and 14 assists give him 22 points in 27 games played. The Blue Jackets are hoping this kind of production comes back to Columbus once the lockout ends. Columbus acquired Anisimov from New York in the trade for Rick Nash.
