John Tavares pulls out his own tooth

New York Islanders superstar John Tavares might have a budding career in dentistry when his hockey career comes to an end (he’s got a long time to study still).

In last night’s contest against the Chicago Blackhawks, Tavares was fighting for the puck along the boards when it flipped up and caught him square in the mouth. At the next break when he went to the bench, the trainer came over to take a look while Tavares stuck his finger into his mouth and pulled out a loose tooth from the play. Tavares stayed in the game, finishing with an assist in a little over 21 minutes of ice time.

After scoring the first two goals of the game in the first period, the Islanders came out and tied it up before the end of the first. Chicago tallied the go-ahead goal in the second and held off the Islanders to take a 3-2 victory.
