It’s not often that you see a goalie get an assist in an NHL game. Even less often does the goalie get the primary assist, typically they notch a secondary assist. Kari Lehtonen, however, broke all the rules last night with his incredible pass to Tyler Seguin which set up a breakaway goal.
Lehtonen, who has been known for solid puck skills, came out of his crease a bit to play the puck. What he did next was unbelievable. Lehtonen fired a pass to the oppositions blue line and right on the tape of Tyler Seguin.
Seguin did the rest as he used his speed to maintain that breakaway and then beat L.A. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick through the five hole.
