When you think about the one handed shootout goals you’ve seen in the past, they’re all pretty much the same. They’re actually all pretty similar to the classic Forsberg Olympic shootout goal that we’re all familiar with.
Tonight, however, Aleksander Barkov of the Florida Panthers took the one handed shootout goal to a whole new level.
In the seventh round of a scoreless shootout against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Barkov pulled skated straight in on Marc-Andre Fleury, pulled the puck to his backhand, and then used his one outstretched hand to lift the puck past Fleury.
Barkov’s goal was the shootout winner and gave the Panthers a 4-3 win.
