Sergey Tolchinsky has been making a name for himself this off season with some razzle dazzle during development camp. The latest clip comes from a breakaway goal he scored.
After another ‘Canes defender let Tolchinsky away on a clean break, the skilled Russian prospect made no mistake in burying the puck into the net to complete his fancy move.
Tolchinsky, formerly of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, scored on a nice variation of the between the shot. Instead of coming straight in on the goalie, however, Tolchinsky pivoted and turned to the side before dropping the puck between his legs and scoring.

Tolchinsky originally went undrafted, but was later invited to the ‘Canes prospect camp, and has continued to impress since. He is a smaller player, listed at 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds, but prides himself on being quick and evasive. He obviously has great hands as well.
After back-to-back impressive seasons with Sault Ste. Marie in the OHL, Tolchinsky is hoping to land a spot on the ‘Canes roster this fall. If not, however, he’ll likely spend the season with the Charlotte Checkers, waiting for an NHL call up.
