After a strong start to the season with three straight wins, the Detroit Red Wings have now dropped three straight—including an ugly loss to the Edmonton Oilers last night in which Connor McDavid netted a highlight-reel goal for the game winner.
Midway through the second period with a 1-0 lead over the Wings, Edmonton’s Benoit Pouliet entered the zone with the puck along the right wing on a two-on-two, with McDavid jockying for positioning against veteran center Brad Richards. However, McDavid quickly side-stepped around Richards ti find himself wide open headed toward the Detroit net. Pouliet sauced a perfect backhand pass to McDavid who looked like he was going to cut across the crease, then quickly put on the brakes and buried a shot into a wide open net.
McDavid currently leads the Oilers with four goals in seven games, and is tied with Nail Yakupov for the team lead in points with six. Check out the video below to see McDavid’s goal against the Red Wings.
