Nicklas Jensen earned the shootout winner in dazzling fashion versus Latvia in Denmark’s latest matchup at the 2016 IIHF World Championships.
Jensen, who plays for the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, scored the beautiful shootout winner after the two teams skated to a 2-2 tie after regulation.
After a couple of quick stick handles, Jensen managed to pull the puck across to his backhand with little room to spare. He extended his right arm and tapped the puck in past the Latvian netminder.
Jensen’s shootout goal marked the first victory for Denmark in the tournament.
Nicklas Jensen was originally a first round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks. He spent time with the Utica Comets prior to being traded to the New York Rangers in January. He scored 15 goals and added 10 assists in 41 games for Hartford last season.
