It’s not every day that you see a linesman deliver a huge hit on a player. That was the case earlier this week, however, when KHL linesman Evgeny Pronskikh got stuck in the middle of the play.
The setup looked harmless at first. Evgeny Rymarev of Astana Barys collected a pass and headed into the offensive zone. After crossing the blue line, space started to get tight as a defenseman closed in on him, and he closed in on the linesman. Before you could even think about what was going to happen next, Pronskikh threw his arms up in defense and steamrolled the oncoming player.
After the hit, Rymarev hit the ice and continued to slide for several feet. He looked as though he was trying to figure out what just happened. Fortunately, he wasn’t injured, and jumped up and right back into the play.
The lesson was learned on this play, though, you shouldn’t mess with the linesman wearing #90.
