Jared Spurgeon Scores Incredible Goal

Jared Spurgeon of the Minnesota Wild isn’t really known as a great goal scorer, but on Tuesday night, he scored an absolute beauty.

Late in the first period of Minnesota’s game against the New Jersey Devils, Spurgeon and company found themselves moving the puck around nicely with a man advantage. Mikko Koivu collected the puck near the far boards and rifled a shot towards the goal.

Instead of the puck making it right to Cory Schneider, it instead deflected and sort of bounced around. Spurgeon was in the right place at the right time, however, as he batted the puck out of the air with his glove then finished it off with a perfect hit out of mid-air and into the back of the net.

Spurgeon’s incredible tally was only his sixth of the season and his first on the power-play. He also has 15 assists, good for 21 total points at the halfway point of the season. He is currently on pace to beat last season’s career best of 29 points.
