Nathan Gerbe scores between the legs goal

Nathan Gerbe of the Caroline Hurricanes scored a beautiful between-the-legs breakaway goal during last night’s contest against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The play formed with the Flyers moving the puck in the offensive zone. As a pass comes back to Luke Schenn at the point, he misplays the pass that bounces away from him and into the neutral zone. Gerbe takes advantage of the miscue and uses his speed to skate around Schenn and pick the puck up for a clear breakaway on Philadelphia goalie Steve Mason, where he drops the puck between his legs and roofs a shot over Mason’s shoulder.

Gerbe is the second player this year to pull out the between-the-legs shot on a breakaway, following suite with San Jose Sharks rookie Tomas Hertl, who pulled off the move earlier this season. Carolina went on to win the game by a score of 3-2.
