Equipment Manager Assists on Ovechkin Goal

What Nazem Kadri did Wednesday was crazy, but who would have thought it could happen two days in a row?

Last night, Alex Ovechkin managed to score a goal seconds after picking up a new one from the bench.

In the middle of his shift, Ovie dumped his stick off into the bench. His equipment manager was ready to go with a replacement and handed it to him.

Ovechkin quickly rejoined the play and headed into the offensive zone with teammate Karl Alzner, who carried the puck. Alzner dropped a pass back to Ovechkin who was in the slot and immediately ripped a shot on goal.  The puck squeezed through Jaroslav Halak and into the back of the net for Ovie’s 22nd goal of the year.

While the equipment manager will be left off the scoresheet, we can see that he played a huge role in that goal being scored.

The Washington Capitals would go on to defeat the New York Islanders by a final score of 4-1.
